General

What is Green Dragon Fest?

Green Dragon Fest is an intimate, immersive TTRPG retreat held at Ancient Lore Village in Knoxville, Tennessee. Over three days, you'll play four one-shot sessions with top YouTube dungeon masters and game designers, share family-style meals, and connect with a tight-knit community of passionate TTRPG players. It's less of a convention, more of a gaming retreat.

When and where is it?

Green Dragon Fest 2026 runs April 30th–May 3rd, 2026 at Ancient Lore Village, 7107 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920.

Who is this event for?

Green Dragon Fest is for adults (21+) who love tabletop RPGs and want a premium, community-focused experience. Whether you're a forever-GM looking to play for once, a seasoned player wanting to learn from top designers, or someone who wants to make genuine friendships through gaming, this event is for you.

What is the age requirement?

All attendees must be 21 years of age or older. Valid ID will be required at check-in. Entry will be denied to individuals under 21, and refunds will not be issued for age-related denials.

How many people attend?

We cap attendance at 55 tickets per year to keep the event intimate. This is intentional. Smaller numbers mean better games, closer connections, and a community feel you simply can't get at a large convention.

Tickets & Pricing

What's the difference between "Tickets Only" and "Tickets + Stay"?

Tickets Only covers your base admission, all meals, four game sessions, a GDF t-shirt, exclusive dice (for first time attendees), and shuttle service to/from the Airport Hilton. You'll arrange your own accommodations (we recommend the Airport Hilton room block for a discounted rate).

Tickets + Stay includes everything above plus 3 nights on-site at Ancient Lore Village in one of their unique fantasy-themed lodgings.

Can I attend solo?

Absolutely! Many of our attendees come solo. The event is specifically designed to help you connect with others quickly. Shared meals, small gaming groups, and evening socials make it easy to meet people and leave with new friends.

What is the refund policy?

All ticket purchases are final and non-refundable 24 hours after the time of purchase. If the event is canceled by Green Dragon Fest, you will receive a full refund to your original payment method.

If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another eligible individual (21+). Transfers must be requested by the original ticket holder by contacting us at [email protected]. See our full Refund Policy for details.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. All payments are securely processed through Stripe.

Gaming

What game systems are played?

It varies by year depending on our GM lineup. Past events have featured D&D 5e, Shadowdark, Deathbringer, and other systems brought by our host GMs. Each GM runs their own one-shot, so you'll be exposed to a variety of styles and systems over the weekend.

Will I get to play anything new or unreleased?

Quite possibly. Green Dragon Fest has become a testing ground for new ideas our Game Masters are actively exploring. This means you may get a first look at mechanics, settings, or content that hasn't been released yet. Past attendees have played early versions of games and supplements that later launched to the public. If you want to be in the room where it happens before everyone else, this is it.

How do game sessions work?

There are four full-length one-shot sessions over Friday and Saturday: two sessions each day. You'll be matched with a different GM for each session, so by the end of the weekend you'll have played with four of our host Game Masters.

Can I request a specific Game Master?

Yes! You can rank your Game Master preferences directly during registration. Requests are not guaranteed, but we do our best to honor as many as possible when building session assignments. If you have a strong preference or a specific circumstance, you're also welcome to reach out to us at [email protected].

Do I need to bring my own dice or rulebooks?

You'll receive a set of exclusive GDF dice in your gift bag if it's your first year attending, so you'll be covered. Bringing your own dice is always recommended. GMs will have any necessary rulebooks and character sheets, so you don't need to bring anything else to play.

Food & Dietary Needs

Are meals included?

Yes. All meals are included with your ticket. That covers a family-style dinner on Thursday evening (Session 0), and breakfast, lunch, and dinner on both Friday and Saturday. All meals are shared with your fellow attendees and the host Game Masters.

Are there vegetarian meal options?

Yes. You can indicate a vegetarian meal preference during registration and we'll make sure you're accommodated. If you have other dietary restrictions or severe allergies, please email us at least once month in advance of the event so we can plan accordingly.

Is there a bar?

Yes. There is an open bar during the evening social each night. The bar closes at 10 PM. Please note that all attendees must be 21+ to attend the event.
